CMS Poland announces twenty-three promotions including two Counsel appointments

19 July 2021

CMS Poland is pleased to announce that Adam Jodkowski, from the Dispute Resolution team, and Agnieszka Starzyńska, from the Competition Practice and Life Sciences Group, have both been promoted to counsel. Their appointments came into effect on 1 July 2021. In total, CMS Poland made twenty-three internal promotions this year.

“This year's promotions illustrate the high competence of the new counsels and our strategy on the Polish market, but above all they are the result of the lawyers themselves seeking their own path of development, actively cooperating with colleagues from other practices and developing contacts with clients”, emphasised Andrzej Pośniak, Managing Partner at CMS Poland.

About CMS Poland’s new counsels:

Adam Jodkowski, advocate, has specialised in civil proceedings and commercial disputes for 12 years. As counsel, he intends to develop his practice in resolving disputes in the financial services sector, including insurance claims. Adam has been successfully advising financial institutions in litigation matters for many years and has successfully represented financial market entities in proceedings concerning financial services.  He also represents banks and insurance companies in competition and consumer protection matters, and advises insurers in loss adjusting processes and in court proceedings involving insurance claims.

His experience also includes advising in litigation proceedings for clients from the real estate and construction sectors, with particular emphasis on construction disputes related to infrastructure projects and buildings.  Adam has also extensive experience in advising clients in class action proceedings. He has been associated with CMS since 2008 and is recommended in the field of litigation in the international Legal 500 ranking.

Agnieszka Starzyńska, advocate with 12 years of experience, specialises in competition and consumer protection law and heads the Lifesciences and Healthcare Practice. In her new role, she will develop the offer of services for clients from the life sciences sector and entities introducing sensitive products, including food and cosmetics (also those containing CBD), and dietary supplements.

Agnieszka successfully advises on competition law issues in mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominant position, restrictive practices, protection of consumers' collective interests and acts of unfair competition. A significant part of Agnieszka's practice involves advising on drafting of commercial agreements and distribution systems, as well as food law, labelling and product safety, and advertising law.

An integral part of her professional experience is advising pharmaceutical and medical device companies on legal aspects of clinical trials, product launch, marketing and advertising, product safety and compliance.

She has worked at CMS since 2009 and has been a recommended lawyer in the field of competition law in the international Legal 500 ranking for several years. Agnieszka graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. She also completed a course in British and European law at the Centre for English and European Law, organised in cooperation with the University of Cambridge.
