Alicja Smyklińska, a Polish-qualified advocate, is a senior associate in the Energy and Infrastructure Practice at CMS Poland, specialising in the energy sector with a focus on gas and renewable energy. She advises clients on regulatory, transactional, and contractual issues, particularly in M&A transactions and project financing. Alicja has supported investors and financial institutions in structuring and executing complex deals, participating in due diligence processes and contract negotiations to ensure legal security and regulatory compliance.
Alicja has been involved in major transactions in the Polish energy market, including significant deals in the renewable energy sector, covering wind, photovoltaic, and and battery energy storage system projects. She provides day-to-day legal support to renewable energy companies, advising on licensing, support schemes, contractual issues, real estate matters, permitting, grid connection, and energy trading. Her support spans from the initial project phase through to construction and commissioning.
Alicja also focuses on ESG compliance and environmental protection, advising clients on sustainability strategies and navigating regulatory requirements and green investment frameworks. Her expertise extends to advising private and public sector entities on infrastructure investment projects, including those under public procurement law and the PPP formula. She has guided clients through public procurement proceedings and prepared legal remedies before the National Appeal Chamber. Additionally, she has supported a Polish financial institution on transactions related to local government unit investments.
Beyond her legal practice, Alicja has recently become a member of the Polish Committee of World Energy Council.
