Maciej Lorenz is an advocate and an associate in the Banking and Finance practice at CMS.

Maciej specializes in banking law and capital markets, with a strong focus on handling complex financing transactions. His expertise includes drafting financing documentation, legal opinions, analysing credit and loan disbursement conditions, and work on the due diligence reports, including analysis of the documents for the purposes of investment processes in connection with the construction of wind farms, photovoltaic farms and logistics warehouses. Maciej has been actively involved in in numerous projects related to financing of real estate, wind farms, photovoltaic plants, investments, export and other corporate finance projects, as well as the acquisition finance of both shares and assets. His experience spans both domestic and cross-border transactions, where he has represented a diverse range of clients, including financial institutions, corporations, and investors, ensuring that their financial and regulatory needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Prior to joining CMS, Maciej gained experience in the legal department of Alior Bank in Warsaw and in a polish law firm specializing in commercial law.

Relevant experience

  • Mowi ASA, a world-leading Norwegian food company in the seafood sector, financing up to EUR 1.8 billion secured revolving credit facility for purpose of seafood sector .
  • Lewandpol Group in relation to PLN 776m senior facility agreement with a consortium of three banks, as well as negotiating the PLN 90m, t to build the first large hybrid solar & windfarm in Poland. Kleczew Solar & Wind, located in Kleczew, Wielkopolska Voivodeship, Poland, will be the first large-scale project to combine solar and wind energy in Poland and one of the largest renewable energy parks in Central and Eastern Europe. The expected capacity of the farm exceeds 200 MW and has the possibility to further expand.
  • BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A. and PKO Bank Polski S.A. in relation to an investment loan of PLN 257 million to Modus Poland Solar Fund I for the purchase of a portfolio of photovoltaic projects located throughout Poland.
  • Sunly group in relation to PLN 273 million financing granted by mBank to 39 obligors for construction of 58 PV farms with a total capacity of approx. 98 MW.
  • ib vogt, on up to PLN 416 million financing in relation to 135 MWp of solar PV project located in the communities of Zamość and Szczebrzeszyn.
  • Sunly, a prominent renewable energy producer in Poland and the Baltics, obtained €300 million (over PLN 1.2 billion) in debt financing to advance the development of solar, wind, and hybrid energy parks, as well as energy storage facilities with a combined capacity of 1.3 GW in the region.
  • Bank Polska Kasa Opieki S.A., in connection with the EUR 36 milion financing for Ghelamco Poland of an office complex called VIBE, which will be the first building in Poland to receive its musical DNA.
  • Spanish group Q-Energy in relation to build a photovoltaic farm in the municipality of Miłkowice (Lower Silesia Province). This is one of the largest investment projects of its kind in Poland - it will involve the installation of more than 170,000 panels connected by 1,200km-long cables, and its total installed capacity is expected to be 113 MW (87 MWac).
  • SINO-CEEF, advising on the provision of financing for the construction and divestment of a portfolio of photovoltaic power plants to a Chinese buyer, the total capacity of the photovoltaic power plant is approximately 51 MW.
