Mateusz Gerlach is an advocate and a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution Department at CMS.

His practice focuses on corporate disputes, internal investigations, employment disputes and complex civil litigation. He has represented clients in a variety of industries, including the defence, banking, insurance, financial services, pharmaceutical, energy, and technology industries. Mateusz regularly uses E-discovery and investigation tools (CMS Evidence), including Brainspace and Relativity. He advises companies at the pre-litigation stage and represents them in court proceedings concerning disputes between company shareholders as well as challenging resolutions of corporate bodies.

Mateusz is also committed to providing quality pro bono legal services. He has represented individual clients and foundations in civil litigation in precedent-setting cases, including extradition and social insurance coverage.

During his studies Mateusz represented Jagiellonian University in various international arbitration moot courts, including Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna as well as Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot in London. In June 2017 he won the Lewiatan Arbitration Competition as well as the Best Speaker Award.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

  • A municipal services company in an internal investigation concerning irregularities in waste collection and resulting financial damage.
  • A global architecture, urbanism and design company in a dispute against the investor regarding alleged design defects.
  • An international insurance company in a complex criminal fraud and cybercrime case. The case concerns thousands of fraudulent transfers from and to various bank accounts 
  • A multinational home appliance manufacturer in an internal investigation into irregularities concerning the operations of several factories. The support included day-to-day cooperation with a renowned international detective agency.
  • An international bank in a complex and international criminal fraud and cybercrime case. The case required immediate action and pursuing freezing orders in various jurisdictions.
