Wojciech Szopiński, an attorney-at-law, is a counsel in the Energy and Infrastructure Practice at CMS Poland. He specialises in supporting companies in the energy and infrastructure sectors, advising on Polish and EU energy and environmental law, including regulatory and contractual issues, transactions, financing, project development, and litigation, with a focus on sustainability.

His experience in particular involves advising on permitting, environmental impact assessments, construction and spatial planning and project development with respect to renewables, conventional energy and infrastructure projects. He advises on energy and environmental matters, as well as civil and corporate law, particularly in the area of M&A and ongoing corporate advice. He also handles climate change (EU ETS), ESG, waste and water management and soil and groundwater contamination.

He has extensive experience dealing with local and governmental authorities, non-governmental organisations, local communities, and administrative courts, especially in permit-related litigation. Wojciech has advised on renewable energy investments (onshore and offshore), transmission and power grid projects (onshore and offshore), large-scale industrial projects (including chemical and manufacturing installations), new power units (including gas-steam and coal-fired units), data centres, and commercial real estate.

Wojciech Szopiński, an attorney-at-law with 10 years of professional experience, is a counsel in the Energy and Infrastructure Practice at CMS Poland.

Wojciech specialises in Polish and EU environmental protection and natural resources law and advises companies on regulatory issues, investment projects, environmental aspects of real property transactions, mergers and acquisitions, as well as financing processes. For many years he has also successfully represented clients in administrative and court proceedings concerning environmental protection law and sustainability issues. Wojciech Szopiński also advises on ESG, including non-financial reporting and Taxonomy.

Wojciech’s experience includes projects concerning historical soil and groundwater contamination, environmental damage, baseline reports, environmental impact assessments, air protection, including adjustment to emission standards specified in IED and BAT conclusions and obtaining derogations and departures from such standards, climate change including issues related to CO₂ emissions (EU ETS), obtaining environmental permits, including integrated permits, waste and water management, noise and REACH.

As an advisor he has successfully represented companies from the energy, chemical, construction, waste management, FMCG, water supply and sewerage, renewable energy sources, mining, automobile, clothing and food sectors.

His experience includes also advising on the development of renewable energy investments (onshore and offshore), projects related to the development of transmission and power grids (onshore and offshore), large-scale industrial projects (including chemical and manufacturing installations), new power units (including gas-steam and coal-fired units), data centres as well as commercial real estate.
