CMS has advised Shift4Good, a global venture capital platform focused on the decarbonisation and resilience of transport and energy, on its investment in NEU Battery Materials, a Singapore-based battery recycling company, as part of NEU's oversubscribed USD 7.6m pre-Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Shift4Good and SGInnovate.
NEU Battery Materials is focused on recycling lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and has developed a proprietary electrochemical recycling technology designed to recover battery-grade lithium from LFP battery production scrap and end-of-life materials. The funding will support the scale-up of production at the company's newly commissioned Singapore facility and its international expansion plans.
The investment reflects growing interest in technologies that support the circular economy and strengthen critical minerals supply chains as global demand for battery storage and electric vehicle technologies continues to increase.
Gerald Licnachan, Corporate Partner at CMS, commented: “We are delighted to have supported Shift4Good on this investment in NEU Battery Materials. The transaction highlights the continued growth in Southeast Asia of ClimateTech investments that support the energy transition, circularity and supply chain resilience.”
The CMS team was led by Gerald Licnachan and included James Fisher (Corporate).
