James is an international transactional Senior Associate in the Corporate / M&A team. He qualified as a solicitor in England in March 2019 and practiced in London for over three years before moving to Singapore in 2022.

James has significant experience in advising founders, entrepreneurs, start-ups, VC funds and regional and multinational corporates on equity and venture debt financings, exits, cross-border M&A and joint ventures. He has completed a six-month, full-time secondment at Barclays Bank and a six-month, part-time secondment at London-based venture capital fund, MMC Ventures, gaining insightful industry-specific knowledge along the way.

James has worked on matters involving Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, India, the UAE, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, the US and the UK.

Relevant experience

Managing General Agent in Thailand in relation to its USD 40m Series B financing and conversion of USD 35m shareholder loans into equity.
UK holdco of Indian operating company specialising in the processing of critical minerals and metals, and production of alloys, magnets, and related downstream products, in relation to its USD 20m seed stage financing.
Italian venture capital fund in relation to its UK-inbound investment into a Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) aggretator platform.
Margin analytics platform in relation to its GBP 13m Series B financing and secondary share sale process.
Polish venture capital fund in relation to its first UK-inbound investment into a global payroll infrastructure development company.
Private equity fund in relation to the sale of its interest, as part of the USD 175m sale of the entire issued share capital of a robotic process automation solutions company to an American multinational technology corporation.
German biotechnology company in relation to its acquisition of a site in Singapore for the purposes of producing Covid-19 vaccines.
Leading manufacturer of gas detection sensors and air quality monitors in relation to the GBP 105m sale of the entire issued share capital of the company to an American multinational conglomerate.
Technology and publishing company in relation to the GBP 60m sale of the entire issued share capital of the company to a UK private equity fund.
Radio frequency products manufacturer in relation to the USD 60m sale of the entire issued share capital of the company to a world leading developer of advanced communication systems.
