Antonia Kehayova has joined CMS Sofia in 2012 and heads the litigation practice in Sofia. She graduated in law from the University of Sofia and has extensive experience in the fields of Civil law and litigation, Corporate and Commercial, Real Estate, Labor and Insurance law.

She has gained professional experience in the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, at the Ministry of labor and social policy and at one of the leading law firms in Sofia. She was admitted to the Sofia Bar in 2004 and speaks Bulgarian, English and German.

On 22 June 2017, a bill amend­ing the Bul­gari­an Ad­min­is­trat­ive Pro­ced­ure Code was ad­op­ted upon its first read­ing. The pro­posed changes mainly aim to speed up and mod­ern­ise ad­min­is­trat­ive justice and to in­tro­duce e-Justice to Bul­garia.

Bul­garia: in­tro­duc­tion of new law on in­de­pend­ent fin­an­cial audit
On 15 Novem­ber, 2016 a new law on the per­form­ance of in­de­pend­ent fin­an­cial audits was fi­nally ad­op­ted. This law fully re­peals the pre­vi­ous one and pro­motes meas­ures for im­ple­ment­ing Reg­u­la­tion (EU) 537/2014 of the European Par­lia­ment and of the Coun­cil of 16.

Bul­gari­an law in­tro­duces the ad­min­is­trat­ive con­tract
On 8 Septem­ber 2016 fi­nal amend­ments to the Bul­gari­an Ad­min­is­trat­ive Pro­ced­ure Code were ad­op­ted, res­ult­ing in the in­tro­duc­tion of the "ad­min­is­trat­ive con­tract" to Bul­gari­an law. With the ad­op­tion of this es­sen­tial le­gis­la­tion, the Bul­gari­an Par­lia­ment sig­nals.

Cap­tive in­sur­ance - already avail­able on the Bul­gari­an mar­ket
With the in­tro­duc­tion of the new In­sur­ance Code in Janu­ary 2016, the concept of the cap­tive in­surer and the cap­tive re­in­surer ap­pear for the first time in Bul­gari­an in­sur­ance law. Al­though cap­tive in­sur­ance un­der­tak­ings have ex­is­ted in de­veloped coun­tries.

New bill es­tab­lishes a pub­lic re­gistry of ar­bit­ral in­sti­tu­tions
On 7 Ju­ly 2016, a new bill on the ar­bit­ra­tion of con­sumer dis­putes and the es­tab­lish­ment of a pub­lic re­gistry of ar­bit­ra­tion courts was filed. The bill comes in re­sponse to the prac­tice in Bul­garia of al­low­ing com­pan­ies to bring ac­tions against con­sumers be­fore.
