Ignacio Cerrato is Partner of the Corporate / M&A department at CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo. He is specialised in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, with extensive expertise in corporate, commercial and contractual matters, as well as capital markets regulation. He also has vast experience in advising on matters of corporate governance and housekeeping services to management bodies, having rendered services to both national and international companies. Ignacio holds the role of secretary of the board of directors of several companies belonging to cross-border groups.

Additionally, Ignacio has vast experience in due diligence processes, joint ventures, sale and purchase agreements and shareholders’ agreements under negotiation, not to mention advising clients and investors from a wide of range of sectors (especially energy, real estate, TMT and consumer products).

Likewise, he is also very experienced in designing, coordinating and implementing multijurisdictional M&A and restructuring projects.

  • Ignacio has advised sector-leading companies on a wide variety of matters including, among others, CBRE Global Investors, Essilor and Sinochem on ongoing corporate matters, KKR on the adquisition of a majority shareholding in ITEP by MasterD, Real Asset Advisers Limited on the sale of a 33% stake in Acciona Energía Internacional by KKR, Boluda on various investment transactions such as the acquisition of Dutch towing group Kotug Smit Towage or the sale of Boluda Tankers, as well as Telefónica and Portobello Capital on several M&A transactions and Iberdrola, Kobus Partners, Bruc Management and OPTrust on different energy transactions.
