CMS advises Hg on majority investment in 3E

03 Nov 2026 Belgium 2 min read

CMS has advised Hg, a leading investor in European and transatlantic software and services businesses, on its majority investment in 3E, a provider of renewable energy asset performance management software and technical advisory services.

Hg will acquire its stake from ReNew and minority shareholders, while members of 3E’s founding and management team will continue to hold a stake alongside Hg. Galvanize Climate Solutions will also join Hg as a minority co-investor. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to complete over the coming months.

Founded more than 25 years ago, 3E developed SynaptiQ, a software platform that helps owners and operators of renewable energy assets monitor and optimise performance and revenue. Hg’s investment will support further development of the platform’s AI capabilities and international expansion, particularly in the US.

The CMS Belgium team was led by Philippe Hendrickx and also included Vincent De Munck and Gauthier Blommaert, working alongside an international team from the UK (Narinder Jugpal and Ga Hyee Lee), France (Benoit Gomel, Maïlys Diogo and Clémence Godille Warnesson), Spain (Ignacio Cerrato, Ana Martín-Zamorano Moreno and Jaime Babío Castanedo), the Netherlands, South Africa (Yushanta Rungasammy, Yonela Diko and Zanrie Linstrom), India (Winnie Shekhar, Rajat Jain, Ruhi Jain, Adarsh Joshi and Mukul Sharma) and the US.

With over 400 private equity, corporate, tax and finance lawyers, the CMS Private Equity team advises clients across all stages of the investment lifecycle, from fund formation and investment structuring to acquisitions, portfolio management and exits.
