Stuttgart – Allianz Real Estate has sold the mixed-use Quartier 207 - Galeries Lafayette building in Berlin to real estate firm Tishman Speyer in an off-market deal. Tishman Speyer is acquiring the property for the Tishman Speyer European Real Estate Venture VIII-Fonds (TSEV VIII) and other co-investors.
The property is located at Friedrichstraße 76-78 in the Mitte district of Berlin and offers 35,500 square metres of retail, office, and residential space. The building is home to well-known French department store Galeries Lafayette. Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, it is one of the most recognised properties in the German capital. Allianz Real Estate originally acquired Quartier 207 in 2012 from Luxembourg-based Fons Field Point as part of a share deal. Further details of the transaction were not disclosed.
An international CMS team led by Dr Volker Zerr advised Allianz Real Estate on all legal aspects of selling the property. Allianz Real Estate regularly relies on the expertise of the Stuttgart-based team headed by Dr Volker Zerr. Recent examples include the formation of a joint venture between Allianz and Swedish firm Heimstaden Bostad AB involving a EUR 3 billion residential portfolio, and the sale of the Skyper high-rise building in Frankfurt/Main.
