CMS advises energy exchange EEX on strategic integration of Finnish subsidiary Grexel
Leipzig – European Energy Exchange AG ("EEX"), a leading energy exchange with its registered office in Leipzig and part of Deutsche Börse Group, will fully integrate all activities and services of its Finnish subsidiary Grexel Systems (Grexel) into its own structure with effect from January 2026.
The Helsinki-based company Grexel is well established throughout Europe as a provider of registration services for energy certificates and has been part of the EEX Group since February 2019. Together, the two companies offer market-leading solutions for guarantees of origin and energy certification systems. Consolidation under the EEX trade mark will create a standardised, high-performance offering for participants in these markets.
Legal and tax advice was provided to EEX by a specialised CMS team led by Dr Jörg Lips and Stefanie Pech. For many years, EEX has relied on the comprehensive expertise of CMS in complex transactions and strategic decisions.
EEX AG, with its registered office in Leipzig, operates a global trading venue for energy and commodity products with international partnerships. The EEX Group connects a network of over 950 exchange participants from 42 countries. The integration of Grexel strengthens its position as a central platform for registration and certification services in Europe.
