CMS advises Halder on acquisition of Newemag AG
Frankfurt/Main – Frankfurt-based private equity investor Halder has acquired Newemag AG. The parties agreed not to disclose details of the transaction.
A CMS team from Switzerland and Germany headed by lead partners Dr Oliver Wolfgramm and Dr Stephan Werlen advised Halder on all legal aspects of the transaction. The private equity and M&A team from the Frankfurt and Zurich offices, led by partners Dr Oliver Wolfgramm and Dr Stephan Werlen, advises Halder on a regular basis.
Halder has been active as a private equity firm in the German-speaking countries since 1991, investing mainly in mid-sized companies in the industrial, healthcare and food & beverages sectors. Halder supports its portfolio companies with the aim of making them market leaders. It has taken stakes in 44 companies over the past 30 years and successfully completed 23 succession arrangements. The Halder team currently manages a portfolio of seven investments.
Established in 1975, Newemag AG is a leading supplier of machine tools in Switzerland, with more than 400 customers across a number of different markets. In addition to turning and milling machines, the firm’s product portfolio includes machining centres that offer 5-axis and simultaneous machining.
The team led by partners Dr Oliver Wolfgramm and Dr Stephan Werlen also advised on the acquisition of Suvema AG in October 2019. In conjunction with that transaction, Halder’s acquisition of Newemag AG creates the leading provider of customised CNC machine tool technology in Switzerland. Bringing together the capabilities of Suvema and Newemag in one group will enable additional growth potential to be realised.
