In a management buy-out (MBO) the equity fund administered by ECM Equity Capital Management
(ECM) gained a shareholding in IN tIME Direkt-Kuriere Transport GmbH. Founder and majority
shareholder Dieter Bartels has sold his share to the present management team Torsten Prelle, Gerd
Röttger und Eckhard Schaede.
A team from CMS Hasche Sigle led by Dr Martin Bell, partner in the Frankfurt office, advised
ECM on the majority holding. It was agreed that the purchase price and other details of the
transaction would remain confidential. For ECM this is the first investment made by German Equity
Partners III a fund founded in September 2006 with commitments to provide capital amounting to 250
million euros.
ECM is an independent investment company, based in Frankfurt am Main. ECM manages the equity
capital fund German Equity Partners which has an aggregate equity capital of more than 450 million
euros. The main focus of investments is in well-established, medium-sized companies. The preferred
level of turnover is between 25 and 500 million euros. The funds managed by ECM typically invests
in management buy-outs of companies. The investments made are as a result of succession
arrangements in medium-sized companies on the one hand and on the other hand as a result of the
sale of fringe activities by large groups of companies.
IN tIME, domiciled in Hanover, is one of the leading companies offering direct and express
transport throughout Europe. The company employs 230 employees at 15 locations in Germany, Hungary
and Sweden. This network is currently being expanded. In 2006 IN tIME Direkt-Kuriere achieved a
