Kennametal Inc, a worldwide leader in the supply of tooling systems, construction parts and modern
high-performance materials for manufacturing processes with approx. 14,000 employees worldwide and
an annual turnover of more than USD 2.3 billion will take over the Sintec company group with its
registered seat in Buching, Germany. Under the leadership of Frankfurt partner Dr Heike Wagner a
team from CMS Hasche Sigle advised Kennametal on the transaction, which is still subject to
approval by the regulatory authorities. This is the third transaction within the last three months
for Kennametal which has been successfully led by Dr Heike Wagner and Stefan Lehr of CMS Hasche
Sigle.
The Sintec company group, which has further locations in Schongau/Germany, Biel/Switzerland,
Shanghai/China, Hong Kong, Newport/Great Britain and in Connecticut/USA, manufactures technical
construction components which are used in aeronautics and space travel, semiconductor technology,
wear technology and medicine.
The takeover of the Sintec company group continues Kennametal's approach of growing through
takeovers in areas with highly developed materials and technical construction parts. Kennametal
already manufactures ceramic systems for metal cutting. By taking over Sintec the company is
breaking into neighbouring technological and geographic markets.
