CMS Hasche Sigle advises KIRCHNER HOLDING on sale of a majority holding in STRABAG

21/04/2008

The Austrian construction group STRABAG SE, market leader in the central and eastern European construction sector, has acquired a majority holding in the German KIRCHNER HOLDING GmbH. Headed by Frankfurt partners Dr Martin Bell and Dr Christoph Schücking CMS Hasche Sigle advised KIRCHNER HOLDING on the transaction, which is still subject to clearance from the cartel authorities involved. Details of the purchase price were not disclosed.

KIRCHNER HOLDING GmbH was founded in 1926 and has its headquarters in Bad Hersfeld. It works mainly in the sectors of infrastructure construction (motorways, roads and bridges railtracks) and environmental technology. KIRCHNER also has a significant international presence, principally in Poland in the construction of roads and railtracks. To complement its core activities Kirchner also works in the PPP, civil engineering and raw materials sectors.

The family owners will also continue to have a holding in KIRCHNER HOLDING. The search for a strategic partner was triggered by the wishes of the family to seek a new direction for the company and to strengthen the capital structure. This acquisition will aid STRABAG to further develop its nationwide presence and strengthen its position in the Polish market.
