Düsseldorf – The Düsseldorf branch of international commercial law firm CMS Germany has moved into a new office building in the city’s banking district. The new build on Kasernenstraße is located in the heart of downtown Düsseldorf, just a few hundred metres from the former offices. More than 100 lawyers and other employees share around 4,000 square metres of state-of-the-art office space.

Dr Thorsten Schätzlein, managing partner of the Düsseldorf CMS office, said: “We have grown steadily over the past few years. The move to a modern office building in a prominent and highly sought-after location is an important step forward, opening up scope for further strengthening our team in the years ahead. We are delighted with our new workplace and highly motivated to continue our success story.”

The project was realised by US real estate investor and developer Hines. Designed by architects KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, it makes a significant contribution to the development of the financial district. With its modern timelessness, the new building forms an architectural counterpoint to the former Commerzbank building, a heritage-protected high-rise by architect Paul Schneider-Esleben. Together with this tower block, the new office building creates a neighbourhood plaza and high-quality leisure zone. Modern materials such as glass and large-format metal façade panels finished in a light colour were used for the new building, creating a spacious, transparent and sophisticated impression. The ground floor of the building is home to vibrant retail and restaurant outlets. High-quality materials and state-of-the-art technology feature in the interior design of the new CMS offices. “The architecture and fittings of our new office are a perfect match with our firm’s high-quality and innovative client work,” added CMS partner Schätzlein.

CMS Düsseldorf is one of the city’s leading commercial law firms and a longstanding partner to SMEs and major corporations. Around 60 lawyers advise on commercial and corporate law, restructuring and M&A transactions, and private equity. Other practice areas include employment law, tax law, private and public construction law, intellectual property, competition and EU issues, dispute resolution and energy.
