Berlin – International commercial law firm CMS Germany is introducing a new career model for commercial and project lawyers at the turn of 2022/2023. The aim is to provide a tailor-made career path for this group, running alongside the career model for fully qualified lawyers.
Legal studies leading to a “Diplom” or LL.B./LL.M. will then be the qualification required to join CMS as a Legal Specialist. Progression up to Senior Legal Manager is possible in several career steps, typically at intervals of two to three years.

While the main role of commercial and project lawyers working as (Senior) Legal Specialists is to develop and contribute technical knowledge, they will also provide professional guidance to other employees when they reach Legal Coordinator level. As (Senior) Legal Managers, they additionally take responsibility for project sub-areas and their own projects.
Legal Specialists, Coordinators and Managers will work directly in the individual units and in Smart Solutions, replacing the Legal Consultant profiles.
On their career path at CMS, Legal Specialists, Coordinators and Managers will be continuously supported in their personal and professional development through further training opportunities in the practice areas, at the individual locations, and centrally via the firm’s own CMS Academy.
