Kathrin Birkhölzer provides comprehensive advice on the enforcement and defence of claims under insolvency law, both in and out of court. She specialises in advising major creditors in the insolvency of their debtors, in the defence against avoidance claims, advising insolvency administrators on the assertion and enforcement of avoidance claims and liability claims and in the defence against claims against managing directors, board members and supervisory board members of insolvent companies, for example due to delay in filing for insolvency or other breaches of duty when a company is in a financial crisis.

Kathrin joined CMS in 2015 and has been counsel since 2026.
