Peter Giese specialises in German and EU competition and merger control law, advising companies on all aspects of competition law including compliance issues. He represents his clients in merger control proceedings before the German Federal Cartel Office and the European Commission. In numerous merger control proceedings, Peter has obtained ap-provals from the European Commission and the Federal Cartel Office. He also coordinates multinational merger control proceedings worldwide.
His practice furthermore covers advice on all aspects of substantive competition law and the representation of his clients in cartel fine and abuse of dominance proceedings. Peter also advises on compliance issues in the context of co-operations between companies.
He assists clients during dawn raids and advises on all compliance issues, including the implementation of compliance programmes in companies.
Peter, who has been a principal counsel since 2022, joined CMS in 2014. From 2011 to 2014 and alongside his PhD studies, he worked in the competition law department of an international law firm. During his trainee lawyer period, he spent three months with a law firm in Dallas.
