Dr. Rainer Runte

Rainer Runte is an expert in corporate governance and compliance, with special focus on setting up and developing robust international compliance management systems for healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device and defence engineering companies. He mainly advises and supports supervisory and management board members as well as managing directors on the introduction and integration of compliance measures into internal processes, including corresponding compliance trainings. Rainer’s practice also covers internal compliance investigations and preliminary proceedings resulting from compliance issues in Germany and abroad, with a focus on the USA. His clients include internationally operating listed (DAX and NYSE) groups but also medium-sized companies.

Prior to joining CMS in 2018 as of-counsel, Rainer held various corporate positions. From 2002 to 2014, he was a management board member and chief administration officer at Fresenius Medical Care responsible for legal, compliance and corporate governance. As the company’s chief representative (“Generalbevollmächtigter”), he was in charge of the same areas at Atlas Elektronik GmbH, a subsidiary of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems GmbH, from 2016 to 2017. From 2015 to 2018, he was vice-chair of the supervisory board at Gabor Shoes AG and in 2018/2019, he was a supervisory board member at Atlas Elektronik GmbH. From 2019 to 2021, Rainer had been a member of the board of directors of Mageba AG (Switzerland). Since 2020, he is the chairman of the supervisory board of H&K AG Germany and since 2005, he has also been teaching at Danube University Krems in Austria. Furthermore he is member of the Defense & Security CMS taskforce.
