Dr. Rainer Runte

Dr Rainer Runte is Co-Head of the CMS Defense & Security Task Force and a member of the International Focus Group Aerospace & Defense. In addition to advising on the full range of key legal issues relating to defense and security, he has particular expertise in the protection of classified information and security against sabotage, as well as corporate governance and compliance. His work in this area focuses on establishing and developing internationally robust compliance management systems for companies in the defense, healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors.

He primarily advises supervisory boards, management boards and managing directors on all defense-related matters and on integrating and implementing compliance measures in internal corporate processes. Rainer Runte also conducts internal compliance investigations and advises clients in connection with investigative proceedings arising from suspected compliance violations in Germany and abroad, particularly in the United States. His clients include international companies listed in the DAX or on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as medium-sized enterprises.

Before joining CMS, Rainer Runte held a range of management and oversight positions at international companies. Among other roles, he served on the Management Board of Fresenius Medical Care AG and, as Chief Administration Officer, was responsible for Legal, Compliance and Corporate Governance. He also held senior positions at Atlas Elektronik GmbH, a subsidiary of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, and served on several supervisory boards and boards of directors, including those of Gabor Shoes AG, Atlas Elektronik GmbH and mageba AG (Switzerland). He has chaired the Supervisory Board of H&K AG since 2020. He also lectures at the University for Continuing Education Krems (formerly Danube University Krems) and is a member of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Sicherheits- und Verteidigungsindustrie (BDSV) and the Förderkreis Deutsches Heer (FKH).
