Stephan Kraatz specialises in private construction law, including contracts with architects and engineers, and commercial leases. He regularly advises on large construction projects and has in this context also worked on numerous public-private partnership projects. Stephan’s clients include private companies and public bodies as well as contractors and operators.

Stephan started his legal career in 1992, joined CMS in 1995 and became a partner in 1999.

Relevant experience

  • Advising the investor on the redevelopment, new construction and running of Red Bull Arena Leipzig (football stadium); volume: EUR 100 million
  • Advising the general contractor on enforcing supplemental claims, based on construction time issues, for the hospital construction project Operative Kliniken Leipzig
  • Defending the local authority against additional remuneration claims, based on construction time issues, in relation to Leipzig’s Museum of Fine Arts
  • Legal project management for two construction projects of Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH (operator of tramway and bus transport services in Leipzig)
