On 13 December 2012, after more than eight years in the making, the German Federal Parliament adopted the Act for the Reform of Maritime Law. The Act includes not only a fully revised version of the fifth book of the German Commercial Code (maritime law) but also introduces various changes to general freight law, freight forwarding law, warehousing law, inland navigation law and other areas. The Bundesrat (the upper house of the German parliament) also adopted the Act on 1 February 2013 which entered into force on 25 April 2013...
