What is the legal approach?

Strictly speaking, there is no legal definition of video games accessibility. From a legal point of view, the accessibility of video games is in a way a facet of digital accessibility.

   - An accessible video game must be perceptible and robust, with content that can be used and understood by all players.

   - Are in-game overlay tools enough to make a game 100% accessible? The European Commission's opinion on the non-compliance of these tools with the General Accessibility Improvement Framework.

   - 2016 - the first obligations for private companies in terms of accessibility were introduced in France by the law for a Digital Republic.

   - 2025 - entry into force of the European Accessibility Act: are video games industry players affected?
