CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon elects its new Executive Board

At the last General Meeting, the partners of CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon elected the members of the firm’s Executive Board, for a three-year term. Jean-Philippe Clément (Corporate Law), François Coutard (Employment Law), Emmanuel Faury (Tax Law) and Charles-Yves Rivière (Corporate Law) were re-elected and Xavier Vahramian (Litigation) was elected to replace Guy Dodin, who has retired. CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre, the firm’s reference shareholder, is represented on the Executive Board by Pierre-Sébastien Thill, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Gérard Kling, member of the Management Board.

For Francois Coutard, named Chairman in place of Guy Dodin, “the new composition of the Executive Board closely reflects CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon’s broad skills base and strong business dynamic.” With over 80 Lyon-based legal professionals and fee revenue of more than €18 million, CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon is France’s leading regional law firm.

François Coutard, 50, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon in 2000 as a partner in the Employment Law practice, after spending 10 years with Fidal where he was Associate Director in the Paris & International Department. He was appointed to the Executive Board in 2003 and named Chief Executive Officer in 2009. He is currently the firm's Chairman. A practising lawyer specialised in employment law, he has been a member of the Board of the French bar association (Conseil de l’Ordre) since 2010. He holds master's degrees in law and human sciences, and a diploma in law firm management from the Ecole de Management de Lyon.

Charles-Yves Rivière, 43, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon as a partner in 2008, after spending some ten years with an international law firm. He was appointed to the Executive Board in 2009 and is currently the firm's Chief Executive Officer. A mergers and acquisitions specialist, he holds a DESS post-graduate degree in business and tax law, a DJCE in-house corporate lawyer diploma and a Ph.D in business law, all from Université Lyon III.

Jean-Philippe Clément, 43, began his career with CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon in 1993 and was named partner in 2001. A corporate law specialist, he has been a member of the Executive Board since 2009. He holds a DESS post-graduate degree in business and tax law, a DJCE in-house corporate lawyer diploma and a Ph.D in business law, all from Université Lyon III.

Emmanuel Faury, 49, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon as a partner in 2004, after spending some fifteen years with an international law firm. He has been a member of the Executive Board since 2006. Specialised in tax law, he holds a DESS post-graduate degree in business and tax law and a DJCE in-house corporate lawyer diploma from Université Lyon III. He lectures in international tax law at the Ecole des Avocats and at the Ecole de Management de Lyon.

Xavier Vahramian, 44, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon as a partner in 2004, after spending nine years with a firm specialized in commercial litigation and white-collar crime. Specialized in litigation support (commercial litigation, white-collar crime, criminal cases under employment law), he became a member of the Executive Board in 2012. He holds a master’s degree in business law from Kiel University (Germany) and a DESS post-graduate degree in EU law from Université Lyon III.

Pierre-Sébastien Thill, 56, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre in 1984 and became a partner in 1993. He was a member of the Management Board from 2000 to 2012, serving as the Board's chairman as from 2004. He was also Chairman of the CMS Executive Committee from 2003 to 2008 then member from 2008 to 2012. A specialist in international taxation, he holds a DESS post-graduate degree in business law from the DJCE faculty of Aix-Marseille University. He has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board since June 2012.

Gérard Kling, 58, joined CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre in 1978. Appointed Partner in 1989, he was a member of the Supervisory Board (2003-2006), before serving as Vice-Chairman (2006-2009). Specialised in banking law, Mr Kling holds a Master’s degree from Strasbourg University and a DESS post-graduate business law degree from the DJCE faculty of Montpellier University (1978). He has been a member of the Management Board since June 2012.
