The EURENCO Group, European leader in energetic materials for defence and security, announced on 19 December 2024 the acquisition of THIOT Ingénierie, a French company specialising in impact technologies, ballistic testing and materials engineering.
This acquisition is part of EURENCO's strategy to broaden its portfolio of ballistic engineering activities and diversify its innovation capabilities in advanced technologies for defence, aerospace and security. This acquisition will enable EURENCO to strengthen its expertise in the field of shock with unique capabilities in hypervelocity impact testing and simulation of material behaviour under extreme stress.
THIOT INGENIERIE is a company specialising in shock physics and fast dynamics, based in Puybrun in the Lot region of France. It generates 70% of its sales from exports, with three quarters of its business focused on the defence sector. Its customers include such industry leaders as Airbus, Hyundai, Leonardo, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), MBDA, Junghans and Safran.
CMS Francis Lefebvre advised the EURENCO Group on the tax aspects of the transaction. The team consisted of Christophe Leclère, partner, and Adrien Sanvelian, associate, on the corporate tax aspects; William Hamon, partner, and Mathieu Fermine, associate, on the VAT aspects; and Laurent Chatel, partner, and Vanessa Chiffert, associate, on the local tax aspects.
