ESMA's report follows a request from the EC to the ESAs for them to periodically report on costs and past performance of retail investment, insurance and pension products. It sets out data on costs in relation to UCITS, retail AIFs and structured retail products. ESMA notes particular concerns over UCITS, suggesting that, on average, retail clients pay twice as much as institutional clients.
