As a result of bilateral Franco-Monegasque agreements, insurance products and services offered on Monegasque territory are mainly governed by French law.

However, insurance activities in the Principality are subject to approval and compliance with local requirements. The fragmented nature of Monegasque regulations in this area means that insurance companies wishing to open a branch in the Principality or distribute their products through intermediaries require special advice and support.

Our expertise covers the following:

  • Assisting clients with the various formalities required to operate an insurance business in Monaco
  • Advising local and foreign insurance firms on regulations applicable to their activities
  • Reviewing contractual and information documents (including marketing materials) for insurance products and services
  • Assisting Monegasque insurance agents and brokers with disputes relating to their professional activities
  • Assisting and representing insurers and other parties in proceedings before the Monegasque courts
