CMS has advised Solterra Brand Services (Solterra) on two innovative projects in the energy storage market. The first project involved advice on a strategic framework agreement with a company from the Pacific Green group concerning the development of BESS projects in Poland with a capacity potential of up to 400 MW.
CMS lawyers also advised the client on a second project involving Solterra’s acquisition of an energy storage system (BESS) in Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. The planned capacity of the storage system is 35 MW.
Both the strategic collaboration with Pacific Green and the acquisition of the energy storage system are in line with Solterra’s goals related to the development of BESS projects in Poland. The framework collaboration will enable full use of Solterra’s experience in developing RES and BESS projects in Poland, as well as of Pacific Green’s experience in implementing BESS projects abroad.
“We are pleased to have been able to support Solterra on these innovative and strategic projects. We are seeing a very dynamic development of the energy storage market in Poland, with prospects of further development in the coming years. Storage systems will be a key element that will ensure energy security and stability of energy prices, both as independent projects and co-location projects. I am convinced that the power market and the co-financing of BESS projects will be attractive prospects for further investors”, says Łukasz Szatkowski, Energy and Infrastructure partner.
The two projects involved a multidisciplinary team supervised by Łukasz Szatkowski, partner in the Energy and Infrastructure practice. The projects were led by Jan Radziuk, assisted by Adam Kędziora, Stanisław Gorzeliński and Dominika Paczena (Energy and Infrastructure), Olga Czyżycka-Szczygieł, Robert Semczuk and Magdalena Mentrak (Corporate and M&A), Katarzyna Mazur and Mateusz Tymowski (Banking & Finance), as well as Piotr Nowicki and Maciej Brezdeń (Tax).
