In an interview to Lusa, João Leitão Figueiredo analyzes the risks that the proposed European “Chat Control” regulation poses to citizens.
When asked how this proposal conflicts with the right to privacy, the CMS Portugal lawyer said he had “many doubts” about this. “That's an excellent question and, above all, it should make us think and consider the values that are in conflict here. Obviously, we are talking about crimes of a sexual nature, which are heinous crimes,” and “we are talking about a particularly vulnerable group when we talk about minors, about children,” he concludes.
