Kanya is an Associate Designate at CMS South Africa. 

She obtained her BCom Law degree from the University of Pretoria in 2019 and her LLB from the same institution in 2022. 

Prior to joining CMS, Kanya worked as a legal and compliance intern at a mining and tailings firm. She also completed a Legal Compliance Internship at Fraser Alexander.
 

Relevant experience

  • A South Africa Development Fund – advised and assisted in relation to the provision of funding to a bio-pharmaceutical company in connection with the expansion of the biomedical facility and assisted with the negotiations and drafting of a commercial loan agreement to support the expansion required to execute on a groundbreaking agreement between the bio-pharmaceutical company and an American multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation for the formulation, packaging and storing of various vaccines.
  • Two South African banks – assisted in relation with advice in connection with term, trade finance and LC facilities to be made available to a supplier of steel to various industries.
  • A leading South African transport management industry - assisted with action proceedings against a government institution in relation to the recovery of between ZAR400 million and ZAR700 million for services provided to the government institution. 
  • A leading financial institution - assisted in successfully launching and defending an urgent application on behalf of a in order to recover ZAR2 million for services rendered.
