CMS advised ABB on the acquisition of Cassantec Ltd

An international team of CMS Switzerland and Germany under the lead of Stefan Brunnschweiler (CMS Switzerland) has advised ABB on the acquisition of all shares in Cassantec Ltd (Cassantec), a software company operating out of Zurich and Berlin.

Cassantec’s field-proven technology accurately predicted 99 percent of equipment malfunctions with a time horizon of as long as 5 years, with the accuracy rate increasing over time through the data-driven machine-learning capabilities of its software. As a result of integrating this technology, ABB’s industry-leading Ellipse® Asset Performance Management (APM) solution (part of the company’s Digital Enterprise portfolio) has been enriched with strengthened prognostic capabilities. The new functionality enables customers to more accurately forecast when their critical assets are likely to fail and model alternative planning pathways and, thus, to further minimize downtime and avoid asset failure as well as to reduce maintenance and operational costs.

ABB (ABBN: SIX Swiss Ex) is a technology leader that is driving the digital transformation of industries. With a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB has four customer-focused, globally leading businesses: Electrification, Industrial Automation, Motion, and Robotics & Discrete Automation, supported by the ABB Ability™ digital platform. ABB’s Power Grids business will be divested to Hitachi in 2020. ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 147'000 employees.
