Oliver Simon has extensive experience advising German and international companies on all aspects of individual and collective employment law. He often advises employers on restructurings and transactions and has special experience in negotiating with work councils and other employee representatives on, among others, works agreements, reconciliation of interests and social plans. Oliver also heads the firm’s “codetermination & SE” excellence cluster and assists companies with their strategic considerations regarding group internal restructuring measures, such as converting organisations into a Societas Europaea (SE) or cross-border mergers. His practice furthermore focusses on providing advice on the establishment and terminations of service agreements with board members and managing directors.
In 1998, he started his legal career in a corporate and M&A boutique in Stuttgart. He joined CMS in 2000 and became a partner in 2005. In 2004, he was seconded to CMS Cameron McKenna in London for a period of six months. Alongside his legal practice, Oliver lectures at Steinbeis University Berlin and is a permanent contributor to the legal journal Betriebsberater.
Headed by Oliver Simon from 2013 until 2019, our employment law practice has consistently been ranked in Band 1 of relevant publications and law firm guides, such as JUVE German Commercial Law Firms (GCLF), the annual Kanzleimonitor survey by the German Federal Association of Corporate Lawyers (BUJ), Chambers & Partners directories and The Legal 500, as well as received a number of industry awards in current years.
