International CMS team advises Halder on acquisition of Swiss provider of customised CNC machines Suvema

01/11/2019

Frankfurt/Main and Zurich – Frankfurt-based SME investor Halder has acquired a majority stake in Suvema AG of Biberist, Switzerland, as part of a management buy-out. Members of the management team also took part in the transaction and will become shareholders. The parties agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.

A CMS team from Germany and Switzerland headed by lead partners Dr Oliver Wolfgramm and Dr Stephan Werlen provided Halder with legal advice on the transaction. The Frankfurt-based private equity and M&A team led by Oliver Wolfgramm has advised Halder on a regular basis for a number of years, most recently on the acquisition of Drumag Fluidtechnik and EPH Elektronik in September, likewise together with the team from the Zurich office headed by Stephan Werlen. At the beginning of the year, Oliver Wolfgramm assisted Halder on the sale of Wback.

Halder has been active as a private equity firm in the German-speaking region since 1991 and has provided 41 SMEs with equity capital for succession and growth in this period. Halder supports its portfolio companies in their international expansion and helps them to develop their strategy and business model. It also provides funding for expanding capacity and financing acquisitions. The equity interest taken in Suvema AG is the third investment by the Halder VI fund.

Suvema AG has been operating in the Swiss machine tool market for 45 years, focusing on customer-specific adaptation of CNC turning, milling and multitasking machines. The company has extensive technical consulting and implementation expertise, enabling it to offer tailored CNC machine solutions for demanding customers in the luxury watchmaking and medical technology sectors, among others. Suvema has installed over 3,000 machine tools to date, with the customers ranging in size from international corporations to SMEs.
