Max Finkelmeier advises companies on all aspects of (international) trade and distribution law, including related disputes. His practice covers the entire value chain and the complete life cycle of products. Max has long-standing experience in drafting and negotiating complex, large-volume and often cross-border (framework) agreements. Another focus of his practice is the development of procurement and distribution strategies as well as the associated (global) standardisation of sample agreements. In addition, he regularly advises his clients on disputes along the supply chain, as well as on product recalls and the related regulatory issues.
Max’s practice furthermore covers the design, implementation and enforcement of distribution systems, as well as e-commerce and related consumer protection issues.
He has expertise in a wide range of industry sectors, including automotive (in particular suppliers), electrics and consumer goods (e.g., toys, clothing and luxury goods), machinery and plant engineering as well as e-mobility.
Alongside his advisory practice, Max regularly publishes in legal journals on topics of international commercial and business law. He joined CMS in 2016, became counsel in 2022 and was appointed principal counsel in 2025.
