The European Union (EU) has recognised the potential and relevance of space for Europe and is focusing on it in its Work Programme 2025, and in other areas. Alongside private companies and innovative business ideas, an important EU legislative project for the development of space travel and the global space economy is in the starting blocks: the EU Space Act. The German government has also already presented a Space Strategy, which the coalition elected in 2025 would like to pursue further.
