11/03/2022

Hamburg-based DAL Deutsche Afrika-Linien GmbH & Co. KG, which is part of the Rantzau Group, has sold its container liner service to Hapag-Lloyd AG. The transaction also includes the worldwide agency business conducted through various subsidiaries in Germany and South Africa, the container ship MV DAL Kalahari (6,589 TEU), and a fleet of around 17,800 containers, both owned and leased. The staff in Bremen, Hamburg and South Africa will be integrated into Hapag-Lloyd AG. The purchase price was not disclosed. The transaction is currently awaiting approval from the competition authorities and also subject to other conditions.

An international CMS team headed by lead partners Dr Christian von Lenthe and Dr Jacob Siebert advised Deutsche Afrika-Linien on all legal aspects of the complex cross-border transaction.
