Markus Schöner is a specialist for EU and German antitrust law, including merger control. His competition law expertise is in particular demand in the context of setting up selective distribution systems that comply with legal provisions and protecting them. His antitrust compliance practice includes anything from designing compliance programmes to internal and/or official investigations. Markus has long-standing experience as a litigator, representing his clients in antitrust disputes as well as in administrative and administrative fines proceedings. He advises, among others, companies in the automotive, FMCG, luxury goods, media, shipping/logistics, public transport, plant construction and trading industries.
Markus joined CMS in 1999 and became a partner in 2005. From 2011 until 2020 he was head of Competition & EU, CMS Germany.
