CMS advises Eurofund Group on the acquisition of further retail space in the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum

30 Jun 2026 Germany 2 min read

Düsseldorf – Eurofund Group, together with Signal Capital Partners, has acquired the C&A space in the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum (RRZ) in Mülheim an der Ruhr from Redevco. The transaction comprises approximately 4,800 square metres of retail space in the heart of the centre, which was previously held under separate ownership and was not part of the original acquisition of the RRZ. C&A and Deichmann will remain at the site as key anchor tenants. With this acquisition, the entire shopping centre and its operational management are, for the first time, fully under a single ownership structure. This lays an important foundation for the centre’s ongoing repositioning and further development.

A CMS team led by Philipp Schönnenbeck provided the Eurofund Group with comprehensive real estate law advice. The mandate included, in particular, the structuring of the transaction, legal due diligence, the review and negotiation of the purchase agreement, and advice on real estate and tenancy law in relation to the letting and use structure of the acquired commercial space. CMS has been advising the Eurofund Group on asset management for the entire RRZ since the end of 2024 and has also advised on the refinancing of the purchase and the financing of the refurbishment.

Eurofund Group is an investment, development and real estate management company operating across five markets through two core business lines: retail and living. The pan-European firm specialises in unlocking long-term value through the transformation, repositioning and active management of assets throughout their lifecycle, with a strong focus on retail destinations and mixed-use concepts. In Germany, Eurofund Group, together with the London-based investment manager Signal Capital Partners, is driving the transformation of the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum into a modern hub for the entire Ruhr region. Investments of around EUR 180 million are planned over the coming years.
