CMS advises healthcare investor SHS Capital on sale of medtech expert Spiegelberg to Luciole Medical

28 Jun 2023 Germany 2 min read

Munich – German healthcare investor SHS Capital has sold its shares in medtech expert Spiegelberg to Luciole Medical AG. Hamburg-based medical device company Spiegelberg develops, produces and distributes highly specialised catheters and probes for neurosurgical applications. Significant growth was generated during the SHS holding period. Spiegelberg is now a leading manufacturer of devices and consumables for intracranial pressure measurement.

A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Michael Wangemann and counsel Dr Christoph Küster advised SHS on all legal aspects of the sale. The investor regularly relies on CMS’s expertise, including when it sold its shares in Single Use Support GmbH, an Austrian life science supplier, to US life science group Pall Corporation.

Established in 1993, Tübingen-based private equity investor SHS Gesellschaft für Beteiligungsmanagement mbH specialises in healthcare investments in Europe. Its investment focus is on expansion financing, changes in shareholder structures and successor situations. SHS has a policy of emphasising ESG aspects when making investment decisions, and is committed to the UN PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment). The (quasi-)equity capital investment by the AIF will amount to up to EUR 40 million. SHS is currently investing from its sixth fund, which totals around EUR 250 million.
