CMS advises investment fund LFPI on sale and leaseback of ten hotels

19/01/2017

Berlin – French investment fund LFPI Hotels FPCI has sold ten hotels in German cities to the Swiss Life Group and a French co-investor as part of a cross-border share deal and leased them back on a long-term basis via its German subsidiary, Cologne-based LFPI Hotels Management Deutschland GmbH. The transaction involves a total of ten hotels with 905 rooms in cities including Berlin, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. The purchase price was not disclosed.

A CMS team headed by lead partners Dr Matthias Kuß and Jesko Nobiling, together with a team from CMS France, advised LFPI on all legal aspects of the transaction. The German CMS lawyers regularly assist LFPI, with CMS previously advising the company on the acquisition of all of the German hotels.

The LFPI Group, headquartered in Paris, operates and/or owns hotels under various brands, many of them on a franchise basis. It has assets under management of over EUR 3 billion and primarily invests on behalf of institutional investors in the private equity, real estate, funds of funds and mezzanine arenas.

Headquartered in Marseille, Swiss Life REIM (France) is the Swiss Life Group’s real estate asset manager in France. Zurich-based Swiss Life Group manages assets worth around EUR 62 billion across 12 countries.
