Cologne – Food retailer REWE has taken a stake in e-sports company SK Gaming. This adds another big-name company to the shareholder roster, which already includes 1st FC Cologne, Mercedes-Benz and Deutsche Telekom, in addition to SK Gaming founder and CEO Alexander Müller. SK Gaming is a leading e-sports organisation and one of the world’s best-known brands for competitive video gaming. In addition to its ownership stake, 1st FC Cologne uses its professional sports experience to support SK Gaming through a strategic partnership.
CMS partner Dr Hendrik Schindler advised 1st FC Cologne on all legal aspects of REWE’s investment in SK Gaming. The Cologne-based football club is a longstanding CMS client. CMS also provided transactional advice when the club acquired its stake in SK Gaming. Similarly, the club relied on the expertise of CMS when Deutsche Telekom invested in SK Gaming.
