Cologne – The shareholders in Community Life GmbH have sold a majority stake to HDI Lebensversicherung AG. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
A CMS team led by Dr Winfried Schnepp and Dr Petra Schaffner advised the Community Life shareholders on all legal aspects of the sale.
Based in Liederbach in the federal state of Hesse, Community Life GmbH is an insurtech company that has been operating in the market since 2015. It has developed an end-to-end digital platform for selling and managing life insurance policies. The firm was established by Dr Claudia Lang-Keck and Stefan Keck through their joint holding company, Neue Welt Holding GmbH.
HDI Lebensversicherung AG is part of the HDI Group, which in turn belongs to the Talanx Group. Talanx is the third-largest insurance group in Germany and one of the major players in Europe, based on premium income. Worldwide, the group has its own companies or branches on five continents and has a presence in more than 150 countries via joint ventures. The group’s gross premium income in the 2019 financial year amounted to some EUR 39.5 billion. Talanx AG is listed on the SDAX.
