Affectis Pharmaceuticals AG, Munich, a biopharmaceutical company which develops medication for the treatment of depression and schizophrenia has concluded a third financing round (series C) amounting to EUR 12 million.
Lead investor is Aescap Venture which is investing in Affectis for the first time. The existing investors Life Sciences Partners (LSP), EMBL Ventures and KfW also participated in the financing round. At the same time Affectis reinforced the management team and the supervisory board. Under the leadership of Munich partner Stefan-Ulrich Müller (corporate) a team from CMS Hasche Sigle advised the lead investor Aescap Venture on the transaction.
CMS Hasche Sigle advised the fund established in August this year for the first time. Further partners are Patrick Krol and Kreske Nickelsen, both with many years of life sciences experience.
Affectis will use the income to spur on its product candidates, of which one will soon enter preclinical development. Affectis was established in 2002 as a spin-off of the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry one of the leading research institutes worldwide in the field or neuroscience.
