CMS Hasche Sigle advises BANIF on acquisition of the Berlin "Nike Town"

13/12/2006

The Spanish company BANIF, a bank belonging to the Santander group, has acquired the residential and office building known as "Nike Town" in the Tauentzienstraße in Berlin from a company belonging to the Munich Investa property group. With a volume of over EUR 70 million this is one of the largest transactions involving a single Berlin property this year. The sportswear manufacturer Nike has been the main tenant in this property since 1999 and has occupied ca. 3,500 m² alone.
The Santander group is one of the leading European banks. With 66 million customers and 129,000 employees in 40 countries it is one of the largest credit institutions worldwide.
The Investa property group acted as builder, project developer and supervisor for the office and residential building in the Tauentzienstraße. Since 1972 the property group has been realising new builds and existing properties with an investment volume of over EUR 3 billion.
CMS Hasche Sigle was responsible on behalf of the purchaser for the due diligence and the transaction including its financing.
