CMS has opened an office in Barcelona, adding to its Spanish presence in Madrid and Seville and bringing the total number of CMS offices to 53. With this move, CMS expands into Catalonia, one of Spain´s most dynamic regions which makes up one-fifth of the national economy and generates 30 per cent of its exports.
José María Rojí, previously of Ernst & Young Barcelona, will be in charge of the new Barcelona office. Since 1996, José María has built up the Corporate & Commercial Law department for Ernst and Young in Barcelona. He brings to CMS his extensive experience in international law, particularly in the areas of corporate, contractual, commercial and M&A law.
Cornelius Brandi, Chairman of the CMS Executive Committee, comments, “Spain is a very important country for us. Following the addition of CMS RPA in Portugal to CMS at the beginning of this year, our new presence in Barcelona is a further step in our Iberian expansion strategy.”
Spanish Managing Partner César Albiñana adds, “José Mária´s experience and deep professional knowledge are extremely valuable assets for our firm. His joining us means that we will now be on hand to cover our clients’ needs in Catalonia, whilst continuing to extend our services at national and European level.”
