Private Clients: CMS Hasche Sigle revamps Succession & Assets practice area

18/06/2012

Berlin – Germany’s leading commercial law firm is setting up a dedicated Private Clients practice area following a recent decision by the Partner Committee. "We recognise the extremely positive performance of the CMS Hasche Sigle Succession & Assets practice – now renamed 'Private Clients' – at both national and international CMS level," said Managing Partner Dr Hubertus Kolster. "The entire team has been highly successful with its advice in this sensitive area. Private Clients will continue that success story."

The head of the practice area is partner and inheritance law specialist Hans Christian Blum. "There is life after the transaction, and for a business-owning family also after the company is sold," said Blum. "Our approach meets the comprehensive needs of clients, as demonstrated by our success over many years.” He added that at the European level of the CMS organisation of law firms the international CMS Private Client Specialty Group was recently established to handle cross-border succession planning for international clients. Blum commented: "This is a major advantage when structuring substantial family wealth."

"Corporate succession is a key business challenge," said Blum. "This is not only where the future of the business and family office is decided, it also has a crucial impact on the family's private planning. As well as preserving the business, the family's wealth must be safeguarded."
