Birgit Schlemmer advises German and international investors, banks, energy supply companies and municipal utilities on domestic and international M&A transactions and projects. She has a focus on the energy sector, both with respect to conventional and, in particular, renewable energy sources. She also advises on restructurings and joint ventures.

Birgit joined CMS in 2018 and was appointed Counsel of the law firm. She is a lecturer for the Stuttgart Bar Association and the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court.

Relevant experience

Renewable energy sector: onshore wind energy

  • Advising EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG on the structuring of a portfolio comprising 14 Onshore Wind Farms (133 MW) and the sale of a 49.9% stake to the Klimavest Impact Fund managed by Commerz Real
  • Advising Stadtwerke München GmbH on acquiring Jasna onshore wind farm project in Poland with 39 wind turbines by wind farm developer WKN and its subsidiary Sevivon

Renewable energy sector: photovoltaic

  • Advising EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG on the structuring of a portfolio with 16 Solar Parks (597 MW) and the sale of a 49.9% stake to the Alte Leipziger Hallesche Versicherungsgruppe

Renewable energy sector: LNG

  • Advising Hanseatic Energy Hub regarding the planned LNG Terminal in Stade.

Restructurings

  • Advising Modine Manufacturing Company on the restructuring of the European segment of the Modine Group
