Marlene Kottmann advises companies and the public sector on all matters of public law, public law compliance and sustainability (ESG). Her focus is in the Energy & Climate Change sector group, where she advises clients on compliance with German and European regulations and on government funding programmes for decarbonisation and the green transformation of the economy. Marlene Kottmann has wide-ranging expertise in administrative law, environmental and climate change law, public construction law and public funding law.

Marlene Kottmann joined CMS in 2024.

  • From 2018: Doctoral studies on the history of international criminal law at the University of Freiburg with research stays in Paris, funded by the Foundation of German Business (sdw)
  • 2018: First state examination in law
  • 2017 - 2021: Graduate research assistant at the Institute for Legal History and Comparative Legal History of the University of Freiburg
  • 2011 - 2017: Studied law in Freiburg (University of Freiburg) and Santiago de Chile (University of Chile) with additional training in "European, International and Foreign Law", with a scholarship from the Foundation of German Business (sdw)
