Moritz Gerstmayr advises banks and financial services providers as well as investment firms and investment service providers on all regulatory aspects of German and European financial supervision. His clients also include payment service providers and fintech companies. With special expertise in banking regulation, capital markets law and investment law, he regularly advises on licensing and ownership control proceedings before the supervisory authorities in Germany and the European Central Bank as well as on the acquisitions of shareholdings and M&A transactions in the financial sector, often with cross-border implications. He also has in-depth bank restructuring and insolvency know-how.

Moritz joined CMS in 2019, after having started his legal career at another major commercial law firm in 2015. He gained international finance sector experience on secondments to a Luxembourg investment services company and the investment services company of a large French bank.
